Mrs Helen McClenaghan

Mrs Clenaghan was an English teacher at school during the latter half of our school career. Later she was appointed to the SELB, as an Education Officer, where she progressed through the various levels because of her strengths as an administrator. Subsequently, she was appointed as Chief Executive of the Southern Education and Library Board. Her services to Education in Northern Ireland were honoured by an OBE.

She will always be remembered for that fantastic Morgan sportscar which she told me was a gift from an elderely relative. That leather strap on the bonnet made it look like it was straight out of an Ealing movie of the 1940s.

During my career I was fortunate to have worked for her in one of the schools under her control and she was most helpful on numerous occasions.
